Porcelain Fillings

Dr. Daniell Mishaan is an advocate for mercury-free fillings. Dr. Mishaan substitutes metal fillings with composite fillings made with a resin or quartz material, commonly referred to as porcelain fillings. Porcelain fillings bond to the tooth, which allows the tooth to retain a majority of its original strength. Porcelain fillings are off-white in color. This allows them to camouflage against the natural color of teeth, hiding evidence of work. A tooth filled with a porcelain filling will become less sensitive to hot and cold over time. Most importantly, when a dentist is drilling a cavity to be replaced by a porcelain filling, less of the tooth must be removed. This increases the strength of the tooth.
